CORNELIA HAS UNDERGONE A FULL RESTORATION TAKEN on BETWEEN 2015-2018.
IT WAS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN TWO AVID BOATMEN AND FRIENDS, ACTOR EDWARD NORTON AND BUSINESSMAN ALFIE HITCHCOCK. SHE HAS A PERMENENT MOORING IN WINDSOR IN THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF WINDSOR & MAIDENHEAD.

having all those everyday homely conveniences and more, she still manages to maintain the look and feel of being an original dutch barge.

Cornelia’s wheelhouse is a thing of real beauty. The solid wood throughout gives a warmth rarely found in Dutch barge wheelhouses.
Cornelia’s wheelhouse was completely rebuilt to the exact same dimensions and feel of her original one. After 100 years technology of insulation and glass had progressed enough for us to feel it was time for this.
The leather seating was upholstered by local craftsmen using Bentley supplied beluga leather which was sourced from a local tannery.
WHEELHOUSE
Cornelia’s wheelhouse is a thing of real beauty. The solid wood throughout gives a warmth rarely found in Dutch barge wheelhouses.
Cornelia’s wheelhouse was completely rebuilt to the exact same dimensions and feel of her original one. After 100 years technology of insulation and glass had progressed enough for u to feel it was time for this.

The wheelhouse table is removable and once removed reveals the hatch down to the norton suite.
The ingenious design of the table allows for it to be easily rolled out and stored over by the ships wheel. This allows for a more casual seating arrangement too.
The wheelhouse is lit by 4 BTC Terence Conran wall lamps which are dimmable for those long summer evenings spent socialising in this serene of all places.

The wheelhouse table is removable and hides the hatch down to the norton suite.

The interior of Cornelia’s main cabin consists of an open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge. The floors of the main cabin are all made from reclaimed mahogany planks (from an 18th century galleon). The seating is a mix of teak and oak and is all custom fitted.
the brass portholes all have their original privacy covers. This is a rare feature on barge conversions as these brass reclaimed portholes are sold by weight, so most boat builders would have the privacy covers removed for cost efficcency.

This view from the kitchen allows perfect contact with any dinner guests whilst preparing a meal.
The beautifully fully fitted units are all solid oak made to measure. There is as much prep space in Cornelia’s galley as you would find in most modern kitchens and the social aspect makes cooking a joy.
Being close to the Nespresso machine also helps for those long meandering dinners that go on into the small hours.

The bed itself was hand crafted by (believe it or not) the man who built the original chitty chitty bang bang! The bed is made from reclaimed mahogony which though more expensive is environmentally friendly.
The staging area to the front of the bed is where the central heating radiators are housed as is the tv and ambient lighting. Behind the tv are cupboards with huge amounts of storage space.

ALL OF THE WOOD WORK IN THE NORTON SUITE IS AGED MAHOGANY. THERE IS AMPLE STORAGE HERE TOO AND STAIRS LEADING BACK UP TO THE WHEELHOUSE.
The privacy afforded the Norton suite makes it an ideal bolt hole on those busy boat evenings or the ideal place for kids so they’re not disturbed by any festivities.
